Controversy over abuse of a policewoman in Bogotá, who hit a young man in the head with the bolillo because he was taking photos of her: “Take it with your mother”

The uniformed officer repeatedly hit the man on the head for no apparent reason and tried to avoid being recorded while carrying out a search

A video went viral on social networks in which a police officer patrolling the CAI RincĂłn, located in the town of Suba, physically attacked a man who was trying to record a video in which she appeared. The events occurred in a park in the country’s capital during a search.

While the uniformed officer and her partner were complying with the police procedure, one of the young people decided to take his cell phone out of his pocket to record the authorities, which, apparently, unleashed the agent’s anger.

In fact, the man’s action was not well received by the officer carrying out the inspection, who in an airy tone asked the young man not to record it. “Look over there, he’s not taking photos of me”, he said.

In response to the man’s refusal, the uniformed officer began to hit him several times on the head with her bolillo as a reprimand for not following her orders. After the beatings, the victim assured that he was not photographing her, but rather that he was recording the search.

The young man’s words increased the fury of the officer who tried to intimidate him, repeatedly threatening to hit him again if he did not comply with her directive to put away the phone and stop recording.

“I didn’t record myself, take photos, or anything like that. Don’t be photographing me (…) go and take them with your mother, not with me”, the officer indicated to the young man insistently.

By the way, the uniformed officer requested the identity document to check the judicial records of the man and his companions. Thus, the approximately 20-year-old young man did not hand over his identification and ignored the warnings, since he did not stop the video.

He even alleged that the police officers’ actions were an abuse and went against the law: “Don’t touch me, not like that, this is not like that, that goes for social networks”, he mentioned while trying to get away from the officers.

To record the attack of which he was a victim, the young man recorded the faces of the two police officers, whom he accused of not following the regular channel established by law. Immediately, the uniformed officer did not hesitate to answer: “I don’t give a damn, give me your identification document” and then cut the video by taking away your cell phone.

After the events became known, videos were spread on social networks in which the attacked young man showed how his face had looked after the woman’s beatings. In the clip you can see the victim’s cheekbone swollen due to the attack.

The abuse of the Bogotá Metropolitan Police official caused a wave of divided opinions. Thousands of Internet users expressed their rejection of the situation, arguing that several rules were broken, since it is legal to record the procedure.

“Every public servant can be recorded; police officers are anything but good; Oh noooo that is an abuse… fire the attorney general’s office… The police must be respected, but they must also respect…; “People find it difficult to accept that 90 percent of police officers have an attitude like this lady’s if you can call her a lady because someone who uses a public office knows that they can record the procedure, it is considered to be outside of the law”, are some of the user comments.

Meanwhile, other Internet users took advantage of the situation to laugh at the improper conduct of the uniformed woman, pointing out that she would be fired or punished for hitting the young man.

“I already see a disciplinary officer with a ruling included, she convicted herself hahaha; “Poor uniformed woman, I think she could lose her job”; “One more unemployed”.

Regarding the events witnessed in the country’s capital, neither the mayor of the city, Carlos Fernando Galán, the national police or the District Security Secretary have spoken out to give explanations.
