Tearful Savannah Guthrie Says Mom Nancy Guthrie âMay Already Be Goneâ
Savannah Guthrie is pleading for Nancy Guthrieâs return.
Nearly one month after the Today co-hostâs 84-year-old mother was abducted from her Tucson, Ariz., home, the journalist reflected on the reality of the situation while urging the captors to bring Nancy home.
âIt is day 24 since our mom was taken in the dark of night from her bed, and every hour and minute and second and every long night has been agony since then,â Savannah said in her Feb. 24 Instagram video, âof worrying about her and fearing for her and aching for her and most of all, just missing her.â
âWe still believe in a miracle,â she continued. âWe still believe that she can come home. Hope against hope. As my sister says, we are blowing on the embers of hope.â
However, they understand that given their motherâs health struggles, which require life-sustaining medications, she may no longer be alive.
âWe also know that she may be lost, she may already be gone,â she noted. âShe may have already gone home to the Lord that she loves and is dancing in heaven with her mom and her dad and with her beloved brother Pierce and with our daddy.â
The 54-year-old noted that if Nancyâwho was taken from her home Jan. 31âis no longer alive, she and her siblings Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie will âacceptâ the news. However, she emphasized that they need to know where their mom is.
âFor that reason, we are offering a family reward of up to $1 million for any information that leads us to her recovery,â Savannah said. âSomeone out there knows something that can bring her home. Somebody knows and we are begging you to please come forward now.â
âLet this be your sign to please come forward, tell what you know and help us bring our beloved mom home,â she continued, âso we can either celebrate a glorious, miraculous homecoming or celebrate the beautiful, brave and courageous and noble life that she has lived. Please be the light in the dark.â
Along with pleading to Nancyâs captors, the anchor added that after receiving the outpouring of support from the public and media, their family would be donating $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
âWe also know that we are not alone in our loss. We know that there are millions of families that have suffered with this kind of uncertainty,â she explained. âWe are hoping that the attention that has been given to our mom and our family will extend to all the families like ours who are in need and need prayers and need support.â
